K2 (A Velosi Group Company) completes Hotwork Enclosure Project for Qatar Gas.
K2 has recently completed the first Hotwork Enclosure project in the Middle East. The Hotwork Enclosure system
is a flexible, reusable, positive pressure welding habit which allows hotwork activities to be safely carried out in live
process areas. It is ideal for use in offshore/onshore production facilities, refineries, FPSO’s or anywhere where
a risk of explosion exists.
The project was completed at a gas production facility in Qatar. The facility was required for some urgent welding
works in a zone 2 classified area since shutting down the area of the plant was not feasible. The project lasted 6 days
and during that time, multiple enclosures were built to cover different weld sites. A feature of the system was the set
of equipment used to build the enclosure in different locations, giving it the opportunity to demonstrate its flexibility
and modular nature.
By using the K2 Hotwork Enclosure, the client was able to complete all the welds according to the maintenance
schedule. There were no LTI’s or adverse events and the section of the facility was kept online at all times, saving
the client a large amount of money. |
